Area of Recruitment

Our basic area of recruitment is the West Country and South Wales. However, we do have members in many parts of the country, including Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Lancashire, Suffolk, Surrey and Yorkshire!

1644

Our Regiment is named after Colonel James Carr (also spelt Kerr) who was made Governor of Plymouth during July 1644, about the time Sir Richard Grenville attempted to blockade the town on the orders of Prince Maurice. Thankfully, the Earl of Essex arrived and Sir Richard beat a hasty retreat.

2008

The Regiment is involved in a number of events this season (see Calendar page). The Regiment has a broad spectrum of members in the form of families and individuals, but has one overriding common factor: we are a close-knit group of people.

Regimental Jollifications

Members of the Regiment meet once a month in South Wales at the Merry Harrier, Llandough near Cardiff. Date: 1st Wednesday of the month, time: 8.30 pm.

In the West Country members get together weekly at the Ram in Widcombe, Bath on a Wednesday at around 8.30 pm.

We also have a banquet once a year where we all wear our finest and enjoy a quiet civilised drink with some fine food prepared by the finest chef’s we can find (on Trader’s Row!). During 2008 this was held at Cantref Farm in Brecon.
